“So How Long Will You Stay in South Africa?” On Answering the Underlying Question
Even though I have definitely picked up some South African lingo, most locals still hear straight away that I’m not a national (yet). Once that is clear and they understand that I’m not Dutch or German, but Belgian, they ask me how long I’ve been in South Africa (since August 2013). The follow-up question to that

Christmas in Kruger (kind of)
My in-laws live about 20 mins. drive from the Crocodile Bridge entry to Kruger National Park. So every time we visit we normally sneak in a visit, and on the day before Christmas (hence the “kind of”) we spent the day in the park. I decided to make this my first black-and-white edit of Kruger Park.

Greyton
The parents of friends have a house in Greyton, so we could have a cheap weekend away there. Great company and great scenery in this beautiful little town.

Paternoster
Even though I had seen many parts of South Africa, I had never been to the Western Coast, so for our birthday weekend, Kim and I went to the peaceful Paternoster. The winter sun gave a lot of great light.

Southern African Road Trip (South Africa, Lesotho, Swaziland & Mozambique)
In 2012 I came to South Africa for the first time. Kim and I did a road trip along these places: Cape Town, Stellenbosch, Hermanus, Plettenberg Bay, Coffee Bay, Sani Pass (Lesotho), Swaziland, Marloth Park, Inhambane (Mozambique), Kruger National Park, Waterval Boven, Johannesburg. It was a great intro to what is now my home country.
