South African wines are world-renowned and we happen to live in the region where the majority of the wine is made. By consequence of proximity – and probably just because we enjoy a glass of wine – one of the activities we like a lot is wine tasting; visiting the wine farms and getting an overview of their range.
In Franschhoek, about an hour drive outside of Cape Town, you can do this in a special way; by going on a tram that takes you from farm to farm. (Granted, only between two farms, there’s an actual tram.) It’s a very fun and relaxed activity to do with friends and family. So whenever people visit us, we are likely to suggest this getaway.
A lot of people visited us in the last year …
Two days before Christmas
In December, we had friends visit from Tanzania and England. So, wine tram!

March part 1
In the beginning of March, Kim’s mom came to visit from Scotland, so we took her and a good friend to Franschhoek. Because, wine tram!

March part 2
Later that month, my parents came to South Africa. They both like wine a lot so we saw no reason not to go. Wine tram it was!

Winter weekend
Last weekend, Kim’s brother came to visit from Zimbabwe, and he and his girlfriend were keen for a weekend away. Wine tram, anyone?
