Mary, did you know?

We naderen kerst en dat geeft ons de gelegenheid om na te denken over het hele kerstgebeuren. Dat ook stevige hardcore- en punkrockbands kerst niet onbewogen voorbijbewegen, mag duidelijk zijn in de kerstcd’s van o.a. Solid State en Tooth and Nail records. Solid State en Tooth and Nail zijn twee labels die in de eerste plek christelijke bands onder zich hebben. Een paar jaar geleden bracht Spoken op de kerstcd een cover uit van Mary, Did You Know?, een lied van Mark Lowry uit 1984. Er is één zin die er voor mij echt uitspringt:
